Your music and mindfulness work explore presence and introspection. How has this helped you find balance in life?
Everyday life in Hong Kong can feel relentless. There is so much pressure, and the constant stream of deadlines and responsibilities can wear us down. I feel very blessed that yoga and music have become my work. Certain moments, like when I’m singing live, or meet my own gaze in the mirror during a yoga class, feel sacred. There is a deep sense of release and focus; all the heaviness falls away. I feel uplifted, and it makes all the hard work worth it.
Growing up with such a strong musical legacy, how have the creative arts contributed to your emotional wellbeing?
It felt like an initiation. Having such close access to that world was a special opportunity to see behind the scenes at shows. When I was young and my dad performed at concerts, I was allowed to wander around backstage. What stayed with me most was the creative teamwork — so many different types of talent and genius coming together to create something even more spectacular. That has helped me understand the value of finding the right partners.
How has fatherhood encouraged you to look after yourself — any daily rituals that help you stay present and energised?
To be honest, I am still figuring this out. The first year was very challenging. It was a huge shift in my lifestyle, and even in my sense of identity. The changes I made afterwards were gradual, and I’m still trying to find the rhythm that works best for me. It can feel particularly challenging in Hong Kong too. I hear about fathers who wake up at 4am to fit in a workout before starting their workday — I’m not quite there yet!
How has your yoga practice changed your understanding of wellness beyond flexibility and strength?
Yoga was the key to unlocking everything in life. Through yoga, I began to truly know myself. Before I found the practice, I was afraid to pursue music and felt defeated by the pressure and uncertainty. After discovering yoga, I learned who I really am and about my potential. Once I understood that, nothing could stop me.
What is wellness to you?
To me, wellness is directing your energy towards the things that genuinely support and enrich your life.
